    LIMITED-TIME DEAL

    Amazon Echo Buds

The latest Echo buds get you up to 20 hours of battery life in a pair of no-nonsense, everyday earbuds. They charge up fast (with the included charging case) and are sweat-resistant, making them great for travel and workouts. Audio is surprisingly detailed for a pair of budget buds — that’s thanks to Amazon’s “Audio Personalization” feature, which lets you tailor the frequencies to your desired sound settings.

These earbuds use the Bluetooth 5.2 standard for super-fast, easy pairing. In our testing, the connection never once dropped out, and it paired as easily with our phone as it did with our laptops.

As for all Echo devices, these Echo Buds have Alexa built-in, so you can use your voice to take calls, adjust settings, skip songs and more.

If you’re interested in what makes Amazon’s new earbuds special, we’ve broken down all the important details below.

How Are the Echo Buds Different Than the Old Ones (2nd Gen)?

The 2023 Echo Buds are a pretty big improvement over the 2nd-generation earbuds they’re replacing from 2021, and over the first-generation Echo Buds.

Amazon decreased the size of the earbuds and tweaked the design to fit in your ears more comfortably than the original Echo Buds. Their nozzle was shortened, so the buds won’t protrude out of your ears, and don’t have a long stem-like antenna that other true wireless earbuds do. The 2023 Echo Buds feature what Amazon calls a “semi-in-ear design” that promises to help “reduce outside noise and keep you connected to your surroundings while listening to music or taking calls.”

The new Echo Buds have an IPX4 waterproof rating, which means you can exercise with them without risking damage from sweat. We don’t recommend running with them in the rain, however.

Amazon says the microphones inside the new Echo Buds are a lot better, so you can use them during professional work calls.

    Do They Sound Better?

In short: yes. Amazon says it’s changed the audio hardware inside the Echo Buds to improve sound quality, which means deeper, richer tones and more detailed contrasts. Everything is better balanced for lows, mids and highs, and bass is solid without being overwhelming.

Do the Echo Buds Work With Alexa?

Yes, you can ask Amazon’s voice assistant to play music, adjust the volume, control smart home accessories, and a lot more using your voice. This hands-free control is especially useful if you’re wearing the Echo Buds while exercising because you don’t have to break your focus.

Do These Earbuds Have Active Noise Cancellation?

No. Unlike the Echo Buds (2nd Gen), the $50 Echo Buds do not have ANC technology.

How Long Does Their Battery Last?

The Echo Buds offer up to five hours of music playback on a single charge, plus an additional 15 hours from their battery case. Amazon says you can get two hours of music playback from a fifteen minute charge.

Is Amazon Offering Them In Different Colors?

Yes, the Echo Buds are available in two colors: Black and Glacier White.

Can I Charge Them With Any Wireless Charger?

Yes, if you get the Echo Buds with a wireless charging case, you can use them with any standard Qi charging pad.
