3, 2, 1… Action! All eyes were on 2025 Cannes Film Festival and its famous red carpet across its two week run, with a star-studded line-up that flocked to celebrate the 78th annual film festival in all its forms.
On May 12, the Grand Théâtre Lumière hosted the official opening ceremony. The eagerly-awaited evening was marked by the presence of Robert De Niro, who received the honorary Palme d’Or from Leonardo DiCaprio. Stars such as Julia Garner, Eva Longoria, Bella Hadid, and more all hit the red carpet to kick off the affair—donning their most glamorous fashions. After all, Cannes is one of the most elegant and glitzy film festivals in the world, though many celebrities have rebuked the formal dress code over the years.
The jury was made up of stars such as Halle Berry, Juliette Binoche, Jeremy Strong, Leila Slimani, and more. And among them, the budding stars, established directors, and enfant terribles of their respective industries attending the various premieres and screenings happening throughout the festival. Dressed up for major moments, they witnessed Iranian director Jafar Panahi mark a triumphant return with It Was Just an Accident winning the Palme d’Or, and other highlights that included Harris Dickinson’s directorial debut with Urchin, and Jennifer Lawrence’s raved about performance in Die, My Love.
The updated dress code, to no one’s surprise, did little to deter some of the most experimental, knock-out looks making their way down the Croisette and up the grand stairs of Louis Lumière.
