Ubisoft has announced that in-game operator Aruni has been placed under ‘temporary competitive quarantine’ during the BLAST R6 Munich Major until further notice.
The Rainbow Six Siege X publisher shared that the decision was made to maintain the tournament’s balance.
In a statement online, Ubisoft wrote: “Starting from today, Aruni will be placed under temporary competitive quarantine for the duration of the BLAST R6 Munich Major, until further notice.
“This decision allows us to maintain a balanced and competitive environment throughout the remainder of the event.”
While Ubisoft did not officially state why the attack operator was banned, several users have reported in-game issues with Aruni. The bug reportedly causes her gadget to damage allies and affects enemies out of its range.
The decision has been met with criticism online by both fans and players alike. Some athletes have opposed the publisher’s decision to implement a change midway through the Rainbow Six Siege X tournament.
“This is ridiculous,” wrote Jack ‘Doki‘ Robertson, Entry Fragger player for G2 Esports. “Third play day [with] teams already qualified.
“Even if you don’t play Aruni it’s still ridiculous. One of the strongest ops on LAN as well. Ban for Playoffs fair enough, that would be the ‘fair’ option.”
As of writing, the tournament is nearing the end of its Swiss Stage, and the last few matches will decide which teams move on to the Playoffs and who will be eliminated. Aruni has been a popular pick for some teams so far, and so a decision like this will undoubtedly impact the rest of the competition.
What is the BLAST R6 Munich Major
The BLAST R6 Munich Major is the pinnacle event of Stage 2, where the best teams from across the region compete for the lion’s share of a $750,000 (~£570,000) prize pool. The Major is running from November 8th to 16th, 2025.
The tournament also offers a guaranteed spot to the Six Invitational 2026, the crowning event of the season. Outside of this event, teams will have to qualify for the invitational by becoming one of four regional champions, winning the Last Chance Qualifiers, or being invited based on the global standings.
