Riot Games’ upcoming League of Legends trading card game (TCG), previously known as Project K, will be released under the name Riftbound.

The game’s name was revealed in an announcement video today on Riftbound’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

Riot’s physical TCG title, inspired by the world and characters of League of Legends, was initially announced in December last year under the Project K moniker. In today’s video, Riftbound’s Game Director Dave Guskin and Executive Producer Chengran Chai shared some major updates implemented based on community feedback and playtests.

According to the Riot employees, Riftbound can be played in 1v1 and 2v2 matches as well as free-for-all rounds.

With two complete sets so far, fans have been given even more information about its first set, called Origins. The collection includes over 300 cards, including Unit, Spell and Legend cards. Select Legend cards will also have secret rare versions with unique illustrations. Some of the featured League of Legends characters are Jinx, Viktor, Lee Sin and Yasuo.

In addition, Riftbound will offer a Proving Grounds collection, a set of cards aimed at TCG newcomers.

    When is Riftbound Coming Out?

Following the addition of more original art and adjustments to its UI, Riftbound is ready to launch in China in the Summer of 2025. Many English-speaking countries will follow later in the year, with additional rollouts in 2026.

Moreover, Guskin and Chai shared that the game will be featured at some of the upcoming Riot and tabletop events this year. TCG fans can look forward to additional information and news to be shared on Riftbound’s social media or its new dedicated webpage.

Riftbound’s release will be facilitated by the project’s official publishing and distribution partner, UVS Games. With the announcement of the partnership last month, Riot secured a partner that has helped develop and publish tabletop games for more than 17 years.
