Multilateral: Do you connect with the role of Naoe, or did you have to enter a different place for this character?
Mumomy: Yes, honestly, when I received auditions, everything about Naoe has me immediately. He was attracted to himself. He is such a powerful and layered character. She’s hard and determined, and I mean, she’s lifting the world and the past that she has, and she is also fighting for her future. So when I first got the story and learned about his journey, I felt very connected to him. And he is not just a warrior, but also the person who has to navigate the really complex world like loyalty, revenge, and then himself – like personal development. So for me there were many points to resonate with her.
The thing I am really enjoying HER is that it is so small, which seems like a natural choice of the murderer character, but in fact it is not necessary that in the past the main character of the Asian profession is a matter. How is playing a killer?
This is not the first time I played the role of a female killer. I had to play (in one) Yuza PrincessAnd she is also a killer, and it was like my breakout movie. So I feel from the beginning, I have always achieved (to play) these really strong female characters who are complex, and they all go through this really emotional journey. So when i got The killer’s profession shadowAnd Nao was even more enthusiastic, because he is not the only person who is complex and strong, but he passes through Japan in this very tumultuous time. So I really feel empowered that I have to play it, and I hope the players also feel empowered while going through a journey.
I know this is your first video game. How was this experience different from other experiences of your acting?
Motion capture was a completely new experience, and this is such a unique challenge because you are working on a large space with no set, no costumes. So you really have to trust your imagination and your body so that the character can be revived. And also to trust our partners, always be with you, because we have all such limits. And so it was an interesting challenge.

I also remember that we have a little bit of jerk in our world, and he was an amazing child actor, and it was really difficult to make a habit of headset (…) for him because it compresses your head a little. And so he was getting a little nausea, and so we had to go to it. In the beginning, I would also be nausea, and I had to make it a habit. And so we have to take a break for it to be calm with nausea, and then go back to it. You don’t know these challenges unless you really. Don’t do this.
The voice over was also a very different challenge, because with MOCAP, at least you can express with your entire body, but in VO, it’s just your voice. So you have to express everything with your accent and breath and energy. And I didn’t realize that I would have to do like a hundred different breaths, and I never needed to pay so much attention to which samples they were breathing. So it was really interesting. But honestly, all the challenges were really beneficial. I had to learn a lot.
This is a weird thing to tell you, but the version I am playing comes through the breath controller, so it is really delayed because it is there, closer to your ears than the rest of the sound track. Therefore, comfort has been assured that they are being used well.
Do you have more experience of sports?
I didn’t really play video games, but my husband plays. So yes, especially during Coid, we were playing the couple. I don’t know if you know the video game Do not hunger together.

It was a game I was playing a lot, because you don’t really need to skill in the game. But, as soon as my husband found out that I got this job, I bought a play station, so I have to play it. I mean, it doesn’t matter if I have skills or not. I want to see the world. I have heard that it’s really beautiful.

You need exactly. It will not be too difficult, don’t worry. Although this is probably a strange experience of listening to your own voice. Do you usually see your performances?
Yes, because I started as a singer songwriter. So I went to the music in the LA, and then, before acting, I was doing music for a large part of my life. So in music, you have to listen to your voice. This is the only way you grow. So I am accustomed to listening to the sound of my song, but it’s not a song. It is literally talking and screaming. And sometimes I am angry. Many times I’m angry – let’s be honest. So I have never heard my voice like this.
Do you have a special scene or plot point with which you really resonate when you were performing it?
This is different between the cinema and the VO, and I would say that there are more VO sessions than the cinema house. But in cinematic, it was always about the severity of the scene. There were many intense scenes. And so I immediately. I can think of something. (…) One of them will be the moment when Yasuka and I go through it – ‘because we start like enemies, and then there is something that is very heartbreaking, and we have to decide whether we want to come together or take part as enemies. And this story, it was one of the most difficult stories in which I had to drown myself, to really understand what Naoe is going on. And if you see that scene, I understand that it is difficult for anyone to imagine emotionally in it.
And then in the VO booth, was more difficult – ((Hunps) I was going to be bad, honey! I was going to get bad.
