Leave it to Noel Gallagher to make the first public comments about Oasis’ blockbuster reunion tour while calling in to his favorite sports talk radio show.

On Tuesday, Gallagher chatted with talkSPORT hosts Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent after Oasis wrapped their first run of U.K. and Ireland dates with a two-night stand in Dublin. “I’m feeling a bit shaky today,” Gallagher admitted, after a weekend filled with “a lot of singing, a lot of drinking, and a lot of talking nonsense.”

When asked if he preferred to talk soccer or music first, Gallagher deferred to the hosts, who went straight into the reunion tour. Gallagher said everyone in the band has been “completely blown away” by the concerts so far, adding, “It’s difficult to put into words actually. Every night is the crowd’s first night, so every night’s got that same kind of energy. It’s been truly amazing. I’m not usually short for words, but I can’t really articulate it at the minute.”

While Gallagher obviously knew how big of a deal these shows would be, he admitted he “grossly underestimated” what he was getting into. Five minutes into Oasis’ opening night gig in Cardiff, Wales, he said he thought to himself, “All right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?”

He continued, “I’ve done stadiums before and all, but I don’t mind telling you my legs turned to jelly about halfway through the second song. I could’ve done with going back and taking a minute. But it’s been an amazing thing.”

Arguably the biggest question about the Oasis reunion, though, is how Noel and his brother Liam are getting along after years of feuding. Amazingly, all seems to be going well, with Gallagher saying, “I guess when it’s all said and done we’ll sit and reflect on it, but it’s great being back in a band with Liam. I forgot how funny he was.”

While there was one brotherly dig when Noel joked that Liam’s highly-praised vocals on the tour were “AI,” he added sincerely: “Liam’s smashing it. I’m proud of him … I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it, it’s not in my nature. But I look around and I think, ‘Good for you, mate.’ He’s been amazing.”

Oasis will return to the road later this month when they kick off the North American leg of their reunion tour. Additional dates in England, Asia, Australia, and South America are scheduled through November. When the talkSPORT hosts asked what might be next for the band, Gallagher quickly quipped, “All right, let’s talk about football.”
