Oppenheimer – 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital [4K UHD]
The home-video release, which first dropped in 2023, comes as a multi-disc package: 4K Ultra HD disc, a standard Blu-ray disc and a digital copy. The 4K version includes HDR and preserves the aspect-ratio shifts used in IMAX and standard theatrical sequences, giving viewers at home the clearest, most theatrically faithful presentation to date. Audio is delivered in lossless DTS-HD 5.1, offering a sound mix that captures the film’s dramatic scale and weight.
“We put a lot of care and attention into the Blu-ray version,” Nolan said following its initial release. “Trying to translate the photography and the sound, putting that into the digital realm with a version you can buy and own at home and put on a shelf so no evil streaming service can come steal it from you.”
One week after the initial release of “Oppenheimer” Blu-ray, Best Buy and Amazon reported that they were completely sold out of 4K UHD copies of the exacting director’s latest film.
“It’s unheard of,” Justin LaLiberty, director of operations for Vinegar Syndrome, a film restoration and distribution company, told Variety. “In the past decade, I can’t think of another title that caused that type of fervor.”
