Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” has been invited in to Imax 70mm screens again.

Tickets are on sale now for the film’s limited re-release screenings in nine select Imax 70mm theaters across North America, where it will play from May 15 to May 21. Warner Bros. cites “overwhelming popular and critical response” as the impetus for the re-release.

“Sinners” marks the biggest debut for an original film since 2019. As of April 27, “Sinners” has grossed $122.5 million in North America and $161.6 million globally against a $90 million production budget.

Imax alone represented 20% of revenue on opening weekend, but the film will vacate those premium format screens this weekend as Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” takes over.

“Audiences have spoken and we listened. If ever a film needed to be experienced in this incredible larger-than-life format, it’s ‘Sinners,’” Warner Bros. Pictures president of global distribution Jeff Goldstein said in a statement. “Ryan has delivered a film that has been embraced by fans who appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into creating a film for this screen-filling format and we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see it — or see it again — in 70mm Imax.”

“Sinners” will be back in Imax 70mm at the City Walk Stadium 19 + Imax (Los Angeles), Irvine Spectrum and Imax (Irvine), Lincoln Square 13 + Imax (New York), Metreon 16 + Imax (San Francisco), Indiana State Museum (Indianapolis), Arizona Mills IMAX (Phoenix), Autonation Imax (Ft. Lauderdale), Webb Chapel Imax (Dallas) and Colossus Imax (Toronto).

Written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Coogler, “Sinners” stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role, joined by Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo. “Sinners” follows twin brothers who, trying to leave their troubled lives behind, return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

The film is produced by Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Ryan Coogler. The executive producers are Ludwig Göransson, Will Greenfield and Rebecca Cho.

Coogler also reunites with several “Black Panther” collaborators behind the camera: director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter.
