Nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are being announced Tuesday, July 15 at 8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET, with Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén along with Television Academy chair Cris Abrego handling the reading of nominees representing the best of TV over the past year.
The noms will be read out during an event at the Wolf Theatre in the TV Academy’s Saban Media Center that will be livestreamed on the academy’s website and YouTube channel, along with its Facebook, X and TikTok feeds. You can also watch the noms live on Deadline (above).
A total of 124 categories are up for grabs this year, with 25 in the Primetime Emmy lineup that last year was dominated by the likes of FX’s Shōgun and The Bear, Netflix’s Baby Reindeer and HBO’s Hacks. Expect noise on Tuesday again from The Bear and Hacks, as well as newcomers like Netflix’s limited series Adolescence and Nobody Wants This, HBO Max’s The Pitt and Apple TV+’s The Studio among others.
The Television Academy’s eligibility rules state that shows in contention for the 2025 Emmys must have aired between June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. Thus, shows like HBO’s The Gilded Age Season 3, Apple TV+’s Smoke and Disney+’s Ironheart won’t make the cut at this year’s ceremony.
Other shows that ended with their runs at the previous ceremony include Lessons in Chemistry, Under the Bridge, Ripley and Griselda.
