Refresh for latest…: Riding in lower than pre-weekend projections, Disney’s Tron: Ares cycled to a $60.5M worldwide debut, including $27M from the international box office.

While the team was out and about on an overseas promotional tour, the latest in the 43-year-old cyber saga just didn’t pop wheelies at turnstiles. Still, critical and audience scores on the Joachim Rønning-directed/Jared Leto-fronted pic are better in some areas (France, for example) than the previous Tron movie.

Some bright spots: Latin America leaned in with No. 1s across the region; both Brazil and Mexico opened ahead of Tron: Legacy and Alien: Romulus. Other notable No. 1s were seen in Spain, UK, Australia and Hong Kong. In some markets, like Germany and Korea, local titles are dominating.

Overall, the PLF uptake was strong and the movie has Imax for another two weeks with nothing competitively coming in for a few weeks

China releases on October 17. In the meantime, the Top 5 this weekend were: Mexico ($2.9M), UK ($2.4M), France ($1.9M), Australia ($1.5M) and Germany ($1.4M).

Warner Bros’ One Battle After Another, meanwhile, is showing great legs with another terrific hold, dropping just 32% for $15M in 77 markets. Highlights include Argentina (+20%), Korea (+6%), Colombia (-23%), Poland (-24%), Sweden (-24%), France (-26%), Holland (-26%), Spain (-27%) and Norway (-29%).

The offshore cume to date is $83.5M and the global total is $138M through Sunday. China is the last market to release, opening October 17.

Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie added 11 markets this session, meowing to another $7.2M for an offshore cume of $19.5M and $46M global.

New Line/Warner Bros’ The Conjuring: Last Rites hit a new offshore milestone as it crossed the three-century mark. The weekend conjured $5.8M from 75 overseas markets for a running international total of $300.6M. Global is now $473M.

Japan is the last market to release next week on October 17th.

And, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has become the No. 5 biggest worldwide grosser of the year at $648M. The North America cume reached $128.6M, which passes Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to become the top grossing international film of all time in the domestic marketplace. This frame, Crunchyroll/Sony markets delivered $3.5M overseas from 62 markets for a studio cume of $336M internationally.
