HEROIC has shared that it will be benching its Counter-Strike 2 Academy team in an effort to restructure its talent pipeline.
The overhaul is part of a ‘long-term vision’ according to the company, as it aims to create a more direct pipeline between HEROIC’s Academy and main roster.

Despite moving to the bench, the Academy players will still be able to compete in ‘select tournaments’ as a mix team, while allowing them to ‘explore new opportunities’. However, HEROIC has shared that it is in the middle of ‘assembling a new roster’ as part of its restructuring efforts.
HEROIC said: “With closer cooperation between Academy staff, players, and our mean team coach Tobias ‘Tobiz‘ Theo, we aim to give young talent a clear framework for development and a tangible opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level.”
The following players have since been moved to the inactive roster:
- Andreas ‘anber‘ Brandit
- Bertil ‘Dengzoe‘ Dengsø Vest Hansen – Captain
- Rasmus ‘Scr0b‘ Poulsen
- Vladyslav ‘St0m4k‘ Lykhoshva
The Counter-Strike 2 players originally joined HEROIC’s Academy on April 4th, 2025, meaning the players have only competed for the organisation for five months. One of its players, David ‘fnl‘ MuÈ™uroiu, was recently loaned out for a trial for Nexus Gaming.
“We want to thank our Academy team for the effort and dedication they’ve shown throughout their time with us,” HEROIC added. “Their journey included great memories under the HEROIC banner.”
HEROIC Academy’s Performance in 2025
HEROIC’s Academy roster has been active in the 2025 season, achieving various levels of success. On September 1st, a few days before the announcement, HEROIC Academy successfully qualified for the Betclic Clash Summer Play-In Stage after topping its group in the Open Qualifier’s Group Stage, outperforming teams like BIG and QMISTRY.
Some of its most notable achievements this year include placing in the top four teams during the CCT Season 3 European Series #3 Play-In qualifiers, topping its respective group in the Group Stage and defeating QMISTRY in the Play-In Stage. However, it would also be one of the first teams to be eliminated during the Main Event.
