Let’s Make BIG Moves is returning in 2026 with some big changes that have excited the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community.

Let’s Make BIG Moves will arrive in Manhattan, New York on January 23rd through the 25th and registration is already open.

In the trailer announcing the ‘comeback’ of LMBM, the FGC read: “We got the keys back!” A quick glance at Start.gg confirms that Luminosity is out (RIP Luminosity Makes BIG Moves) and Even Matchup Gaming is the host of the beloved Major once again.

Let’s Make BIG Moves will be held at the New York hotel in a 10,000 square foot space, featuring singles and doubles brackets for Ultimate and Rivals 2. The return of the New England Major has the Smash community excited, especially as many other classic Smash events have continued to fall.

Let’s Make BIG Moves Bans Steve

While it’s still too early to have anyone to root for at LMBM, the FGC is already excited about the possibilities. It’s been confirmed that Steve has been banned from the tournament, removing a cheap and controversial character dominating Top 8s for the past few years. The Smash community has been complaining about Steve for a while, making this an overall popular decision.

This will undoubtedly shake up the meta at Let’s Make BIG Moves, allowing popular Ultimate players to shine in the Top 8 without worrying about Steve’s oppressive playstyle. However, top players like Mashita ‘acola’ Hayato and Angel ‘Onin’ Mireles will likely not show up to compete, which could be seen as unfair.

    What Will Happen to MkLeo?

With Luminosity no longer hosting Let’s Make BIG Moves, the Smash community has started to wonder if the organisation’s focus on content creation has it leaving Smash esports completely. If so, that means its star Ultimate player Leonardo ‘MkLeo’ Perez could be let go from the roster.

MkLeo has been recently having a redemption arc, with the competitive community excited about his EugeneBound victory. Luminosity did not mention the exciting win on its social media platforms, only seeming to solidify its shift away from Smash.

However, with MkLeo showing a lot of promise this season, this could be an exciting opportunity for another esports organisation that wants to build up its Ultimate presence ahead of LMBM.
