Refresh for latest…: Warner Bros/Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie continues to build, playing strongly through school holidays and the Easter frame with just a 28% slide versus last session at the international box office. The third overseas weekend blocked off another $59M in 76 markets, taking the offshore running cume to $376.2M. Global, in turn, blasted past the seven-century mark, now at $720.8M through today.

Warners also notably set the vampires of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners on the loose in 71 international markets this weekend, alongside domestic. The original horror pic landed in line with overseas expectations at $15.4M. Adding in the domestic over-performance, the Michael B Jordan-starrer bowed to $61M worldwide.

Looking at comps, the international opening is on par with Get Out, as well as ahead of Nope by 17% and Speak No Evil by 47%.

Word of mouth and positive critical reactions helped drive traffic in Europe, and the hope is curiosity continues to spin turnstiles, particularly given the strength of the domestic scores.

At the top of the overseas starts, the UK feasted on a strong No. 2 of $3.2M, on par with A Quiet Place: Day One, 13% higher than Get Out, 14% above Coogler’s Creed, 33% bigger than Nope and 67% over Evil Dead Rise. France was also a No. 2 debut ($2M), with Paris and its environs accounting for 40% of the total gross.

In Latin America, where audiences lean into horror, Sinners ranked No. 2 across the region. Mexico was tops there with a No. 2 launch ($1.1M) and the bulk of play in major city multiplexes. Versus comps, it’s 17% higher than Creed, 23% over Nope, 58% above Get Out and 62% bigger than Us.

Overall, the best Sinners debuts were in the UK ($3.2M), France ($2M), Mexico ($1.1M), Germany ($898K) and Australia ($842K).

The Filmed for Imax title grossed $11.1M in the format globally, including $2M from 359 overseas screens.

As for WB/Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie, the Lava Chicken is showing legs through holiday play and still has Korea and Japan releasing this coming week. There were some exceptional holds this frame including in Denmark (+28%), Singapore (+6%), France (-4%), Belgium (-5%), Taiwan (-6%), Hong Kong (-19%), Germany (-21%), UK (-22%), Australia (-31%) and Brazil (-31%).

Minecraft’s Top 5 overseas markets to date are the UK ($59.2M), Germany ($27.8M), Australia ($27.4M), Mexico ($24.8M) and China ($24M).

In other holdover play, 20th Century/Disney’s The Amateur added $11.6M (-33%) from 52 overseas markets in the sophomore frame. The international running cume is now $37M for $64.3M global. The Top 5 so far are the UK ($4.1M), France ($3.3M), Mexico ($3.2M), Japan ($2.3M) and Spain ($2M).
