It’s been a long wait for graduation, but Netflix has now set a launch date for the final season of Australian drama Heartbreak High.

The high school drama will go live globally on March 2, which is over a year after shooting wrapped on the Fremantle Australia and NewBe show.

The series will see the students at Hartley High preparing for graduation and impending adulthood, but when a revenge prank goes wrong, lead character Amerie (Ayesha Madon) and her friends are forced to cover up their secret or risk losing everything.

Madon stars alongside James Majoos, Chloé Hayden, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend, Rachel House, Chika Ikogwe, Kartanya Maynard, Aki Munroe, Ioane Sa’ula, Ben Turland and William McKenna.

Heartbreak High is a reboot of the Australian teen series from the mid 1990s. The original comedy-drama series itself was a spin-off of 1993 movie The Heartbreak Kid.

The announcement came during Netflix’s latest What’s Next event, this time for Australia and New Zealand. Sneak peak images were released for Liz Doran-scripted series My Brilliant Career; Allen, which is from Bluey exec producer Daley Pearson and his Ludo Studio imprint; and Breakers, the Antony Starr-starring series about two U.S. backpackers who are drawn into a seemingly perfect community of surfers led by a charismatic but mysterious figure.

Amanda Duthie, who was recently hired as Director of Content for ANZ, said: “This year, we will proudly showcase more local stories and voices from every corner of Australia.”

Minyoung Kim, Netflix VP of Content for APAC, added: “Whether it’s award winning series like Boy Swallows Universe or beloved IP like Heartbreak High, we’re seeing a new wave of Australian content and supporting the next generation of creative talent.
