VCT Americas Stage 1 runner-ups, Sentinels, will be back on stage at VALORANT Masters Toronto to give the international trophy another shot.

The team didn’t achieve the desired results at Masters Bangkok; however, they are well-rested and better prepared this time, especially since they didn’t have to go through a 20-hour journey.

In the pre-event press conference, Sentinels’ IGL Amine ‘johnqt’ Ouarid talked about the team’s preparation for VALORANT Masters Toronto. He emphasised the learnings the team took from the Bangkok run that helped them get ready for future tournaments.

“I feel like Bangkok was a really good experience for us, even though we got grouped. We learned a lot about what we needed to fix, and we’ve been working on it for like three months now.

“Also, the three weeks of practice we’ve had went well, and I think we’re very excited to show a better version of ourselves this tournament,” johnqt explained.

He mentioned that the team has improved significantly, both in and out of the server, especially in terms of synergy.

“I think we’re on the right path, and it showed in Stage 1, even though we lost in the finals,” he added.

Masters Toronto Offered Enough Time to Practice

Johnqt further shared that he feels Masters Toronto is different from previous events, primarily because they had more time to prepare, something that wasn’t the case with previous international tournaments.

“We’ve had like four weeks of practice leading up to the tournament, whereas before, you’d just finish the regional and then, a week later, you have a match,” he said.

That’s why, even though there are massive changes in the competitive map pool and the overall meta of the game, Sentinels are ready for the challenge and are taking their time to relax.

“Obviously, we’re putting in the work in the prac room, but we’re definitely taking it easier than before. We felt like previously we went really hard, and it got a bit stressful. That led to us not going into games in the best mindset,” he explained.

Sentinels will play its opening match against Chinese representatives Wolves Esports on June 8th and fans will be able to catch all the action live on VALORANT Champions Tour’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
