US spending attacks indicate strong action by universities in the United States. The educational institutions are responding to the administration of US President Donald Trump’s cost -cut campaign, which can hire freezing, travel restrictions and maraturia services. At least one American university has poured staff, and other campuses are considering the Late Office and Furlo.

The number of schools and programs that limit the admission of limited graduate students is increasing. The administration is threatening even wide deductions, which makes some scholars frightened for the future of the US educational system, which relies on federal funds to finance everything from graduate students’ benefits to restoration and use bills.

“The educational models that rely on universities to conduct their research, fund their students, to fund postgraduate students – all of this,” says Osim Prakash, a political scientist at Seattle – because of a lot of people who have been facing a science of science, a lot of science. To say “This is a huge shock.”

The White House did not respond to the request for comment before the publication.

    Sudden change

The administration has stopped a series of revenue in universities. The US National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies have eliminated the research grant and stopped reviewing new grants’ requests. Universities may also face steep deductions in federal income for indirect costs – which is used to run research facilities – and the tax increases on the punctuation.

Dozens of campuses also face severe sanctions. The US Department of Education has announced that 60 US higher education institutions are likely to investigate anti -Assistant harassment and discrimination. The department cited many protests on many campuses after attacking Gaza in 2023 in response to Hamas attacks.

According to an official statement, the administration has already canceled the US $ 400 million in federal grants and contracts in New York City, “the University of Columbia University has been” continued to protect Jewish students from discrimination.

On Wednesday, News Outlets reported that the administration had given $ 175 million in federal funds to the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, with its support for transgender athletes. A university spokesman said that its policies regarding the participation of students in athletic teams comply with national athletic institutions.

“The pace and scope of the attack by the federal government are a complete novel,” says Daniel Green, a information scientist at the University of Maryland at College Park.

    The market for laziness

In response to the reduction of funds and problems about the future, all staff and teachers in institutions like the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania have been frozen. In Maryland, the artificial intelligence inter -disciplinary institute was planning to hire 40 faculty members in the fields including chip engineering, nervous networks, political science, history and health. “It would probably be carried out in three of four,” says Green, says Green.

Other schools, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, and the University of Pennsylvania, are freezing jobs for non -faculty positions.

Universities include money saving measures to increase salaries and call for employment, and to avoid unnecessary travel and training. Jeon West, a computer scientist at the University of Washington, says costs, food and events have been frozen. Universities are preventing spending on membership, dues and subscriptions, and some are reviewing the costs on new buildings and renovation.

The University of Washington is banning researchers from spending grant financing unless the money is provided. The West says, “This is a big deal.” “Eliminating this really slows down the research process.”

    The pipeline is tailing

A large number of universities are restricting the entry of graduate students. Many MIT departments have confessed to less graduates this year. In the Health Sciences Office of Research and Graduate Education at West Virginia University, Morgantown recovered the students who have not yet returned the posts of acceptance. And a few dozen applicants from the MorningSide Graduate School of Biocratic Sciences at the UMS China Medical School, located in Massachusett’s versester, were told in early March that their temporary offerings of acceptance had been abolished.
